The Northumberland Hills Association of REALTORS® was one of only 45 local real estate Boards in Ontario when it was incorporated in July 1968. It was a year that marked a milestone change in real estate, as six provinces including Ontario passed legislation allowing for the development and ownership of condominiums.
The area served by Northumberland Hills Association of REALTORS® covers the municipalities of Cobourg and Port Hope and stretches from the shores of Lake Ontario across the 401 as far north as Rice Lake, as far east as the Township of Cramahe (which includes the Village of Colborne) and as far west as the easterly limits of Highway 115 in Clarington (formerly the Township of Clarke).
The region is rich in heritage and history. Port Hope has more historically designated properties per capita than any other city in Canada. The town of Cobourg ranked sixth in the top 10 list of best places to live in Canada in the April 2006 edition of MoneySense magazine. The Cobourg-Port Hope region is easily reached from Toronto via the 401, and supports a diverse and stable economy making it an ideal place for those seeking commercial, office or industrial space. The scenic communities, natural beauty, world-class industry and fun festivals make this region perfect for tourists and those looking for a safe and friendly place to live.
